About the Program

The Claremont Solo Symphony Workshop is an intensive performance program designed for advanced string students who are ready to take the next step in their musical development. The workshop provides a rare opportunity for young musicians to prepare and perform a complete solo work with a professional ensemble in a formal concert setting.

Unlike traditional camps or orchestral programs, the focus of this workshop is on individual artistry and professional-level performance preparation. Students will work toward presenting a full concerto or major solo work, developing the musical maturity, discipline, and confidence required for high-level performance.

Participants will rehearse alongside professional musicians who will serve both as collaborators and mentors, giving students firsthand experience performing in a professional rehearsal environment. The program emphasizes musical leadership, preparation, and artistic responsibility, encouraging students to take full ownership of their performance.

As this is the inaugural year of the program, participating students will help establish the artistic foundation and traditions of what is intended to become a lasting performance opportunity for serious young musicians in the Claremont community.

The workshop culminates in a public concert performance, where students will perform their prepared solo work with the ensemble before an audience of family, friends, and community members.
