Brian Slack, Bass Coach
Summer Strings is proud to welcome Brian Slack to our faculty as Bass Instructor. A native of Diamond Bar, California, Brian earned his Bachelor of Music degree in Double Bass Performance from California State University, Long Beach, where he studied with Douglas Basye, Assistant Principal Bass of the Pacific Symphony. During his time at the Bob Cole Conservatory of Music, he served as Principal Bass of the Symphony Orchestra.
Brian is an active performer throughout Southern California and regularly performs with the American Youth Symphony. He was also selected to perform with the National Repertory Orchestra in Breckenridge, Colorado, during its 2023 summer festival season. His musical experiences have taken him to some of the nation's most prestigious venues, including Lincoln Center in New York City and Walt Disney Concert Hall in Los Angeles.
In addition to his performing career, Brian is a dedicated music educator who has taught in public schools throughout Los Angeles and Orange Counties. He has also worked with Harmony Project Long Beach, helping provide quality music education and mentorship to young musicians. Brian is passionate about sharing his love of music with students and helping them develop confidence, strong musicianship, and a lifelong appreciation for the arts.
We are thrilled to have Brian join the Summer Strings faculty and look forward to the expertise, energy, and inspiration he will bring to our students.
